Mid City Happy Hour New. Orleans

Mid-City New Orleans Bars and Happy Hours: A Local Guide

Mid-City rewards anyone willing to step away from the busiest tourist blocks. You will find sports on the screens, neighborhood regulars at the bar, small food pop-ups and open-air spots along the Lafitte Greenway. Our staff favorites here are Pal’s Lounge, Finn McCool’s and Mid-City Yacht Club.

Two bars from the original staff list have closed, so they are mentioned separately rather than presented as places to visit. We have also added a couple of active happy-hour choices to round out the neighborhood.

Happy hours, event schedules and menu prices can change, especially around holidays and major festivals. Check the venue’s current menu or social pages before heading out. Research updated October 2026.

Our staff’s favorite bars in Mid-City

Pal’s Lounge

Where: 949 North Rendon Street. Happy hour: Daily, 3–7 p.m., advertised in a 2026 neighborhood promotion and business listing.

Pal’s is the prototype Mid-City neighborhood hangout: a comfortable room, lively regulars and a reason to stay longer than planned. The bar is known for specialty cocktails alongside beer, casual games and rotating local food pop-ups. It feels like a place people return to rather than a stop designed for tourists. A 2026 listing and neighborhood advertisement promote daily happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m.; specific discounts should be checked because the line-up of food and drink offers can change.

Finn McCool’s Irish Pub

Where: 3701 Banks Street. Happy hour: Monday margaritas; Tuesday service-industry discount; Wednesday wine; Thursday beer-and-shot; Friday cocktail special; weekend beer buckets.

Finn McCool’s is a Mid-City standby for soccer fans, neighborhood regulars and anyone who appreciates a welcoming pub with a busy television schedule. There is food, a broad beer selection and a different excuse to visit on nearly every day of the week. The bar’s own specials page is particularly useful for this guide: it lists Monday margaritas, Tuesday discounts for service-industry workers, Wednesday wine, a Thursday beer-and-shot offer, Friday cocktails and weekend beer buckets. Review the latest posting for exact prices, which can change.

Mid-City Yacht Club

Where: 440 South Saint Patrick Street. Happy hour: Current published Tuesday–Friday daytime specials include domestic bottles, wells and call drinks through 5:30 p.m.

Despite the name, you don’t need a boat—or even an interest in boats—to feel at home at the Mid-City Yacht Club. This friendly neighborhood sports bar has TVs, relaxed seating and a strong pub-food reputation. It’s a useful daytime stop because the current specials page lists reduced prices on domestic bottles, well drinks and call drinks Tuesday through Friday, ending at 5:30 p.m. The venue also posts hours seven days a week, but we are not extending those specific deals to Monday or the weekend without confirmation.

More happy-hour stops to add to the route

Wrong Iron on the Greenway

Where: 3532 Toulouse Street. Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 4–7 p.m., posted on the venue’s website.

Wrong Iron is the big-patio choice along the Lafitte Greenway. It leans into a beer-garden atmosphere, with a wide drink selection and room for a group after work or a bike ride. Its website lists Monday–Friday happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m., including deals on mixed drinks, beer and wine. It’s especially useful when the weather is pleasant and the group wants something open-air. Weekend hours are posted too, but not a recurring weekend happy-hour discount.

Remembering two former Mid-City favorites

Wit’s Inn, long known for pizza and drinks on North Carrollton Avenue, was reported closed in 2025. Parkview Tavern, another much-loved neighborhood watering hole, closed in May 2026. Both were on the original staff list, but neither should be treated as an active bar or happy-hour recommendation.

For a current alternative with regular weekday specials, start with Monday’s listings or visit Friday’s guide for a busier night out.
