Mardi Gras 2024

The Parades are back in full swing in 2024. So far it seems like to good old days are back in the Big Easy. Mardi Gras lands on the day before Valentines day this year. Next

12 Night Jan 6th Phunny Phorty Phellows

Always fun to watch the streetcar leave the station. There are a few more 12-night parades these days besides the UG PPP, but we have not had a chance to check them out. We were lucky enough to be invited on the on the Streetcar to film back in the good old days. To this day it’s the only parade I have ever been apart of. One of our other fun blogging Krew marched his girlfriend’s little wonder dog through the French Quarter in Barkus.

You can watch the video here.

Weekend 1 January 27 6:30

Krew de View cut the parade short in 2023 and one of their key patrons is skipped the parade. But 2024 was a success and some of the Covid related issues of the past few years seem to be fading away.

The second weekend is always a good time to bring in the youngsters and family if they want some Mardi Gras without the huge drunken crowds. The parades on Saturday are a wonderful family friendly event, the locals pack the streets with kids, and it one big party full of fun.

Lundi Gras

“Phat Monday” sil vous plait. It’s sort of a mini party before the grad daddy of them all. You can’t really go back to work after three days of non-stop parades, drinking, music, and a house party on every block in the city. Most of the college kids clear out Sunday night, and the atmosphere turns a little more adult and nola local. The calm before the storm.

Uptown 5:15 6:00 Proteus and Orpheus

Mardi Gras Day

YUP, the party starts at 8:00 am with Zulu. Yes we have a coconut and it took many years to land one. No we dont’ have a picture of it yet. on our website. Most years we don’t make it to Zulu after a big night of smack talk’in about how this is the year we’re gonna get it on by 7:30 am.

Rex rolls at 10:00 followed by Elks and Crescent City.

Then, for those of you that haven’t been to the old Big Easy Mardi Gras, the Trucks start to roll, and roll, and roll………. Best to head to the Quarter to close the deal on Marid Gras.
